Piggybacking is when an individual enters the building directly behind someone who is authorized to be there, while they themselves are not. This could happen when someone swipes their access key to enter the building and another person follows through directly after without having their own key. Security professionals often are tasked with performing patrols around the building and on each floor to monitor for maintenance issues like water leaks and lighting outages.
